Far too many times in our culture, we decide to wait until a major crisis or catastrophe occurs to mourn our loved ones. My parents are in the floral business, so I understand first-hand the amount of effort that goes into reverencing the loss of a friend, family member, colleague, or someone we adore. From warm-felt sympathy cards to the elaborate floral arrangements, we make it a point to express how much we love those who are no longer with us. I am all for showing gratitude and respect – but may I propose that we do not wait until the funeral procession to show someone how adored and appreciated they are?
Starting today, find a reason to call a friend or loved one to say “I Love You.” Take your significant other out on a date, just because it’s Tuesday. Buy your mom a bouquet of flowers because every day is “Mother’s Day.” Give your dad a loving bear hug because he’s your “Super Dad.” Send your best friend a postcard because you both make the “World’s Greatest Tag Team.” Celebrate someone you appreciate just because…
“Everything is created from moment to moment, always new. Like fireworks, this universe is a celebration and you are the spectator contemplating the eternal Fourth of July of your absolute splendor.” – Francis Lucille
